 Flying Vision Accelerator Think Tanks

Date and location: Monday 21 September 2026, 12:00 to 17:00, Vakwerkhuis Delft. Lunch and drinks included.

The Flying Vision Accelerator project builds a shared roadmap for aviation towards 2050, together with the stakeholders who will help turn that vision into reality. The FVA network meets at least twice a year to collaboratively shape that roadmap in person. On Monday 21 September, we will hold the second round of Think Tanks for 2026.

In June, we released the first FVA roadmap and used the Think Tanks to sharpen the research questions underlying it. In September we will take the next step. The afternoon consists of two parts. The event begins with a plenary programme featuring keynote speakers. More details will be announced soon.

After that, participants join one of three parallel Think Tanks:

  • Future aircraft concepts and technologies, with this session focusing on how battery-electric and hydrogen propulsion impact aircraft design. (Airbus)
  • New energy carriers, exploring the barriers and opportunities for scaling sustainable fuels and energy systems. (TU Delft)
  • Travel in 2050, focusing on how passenger behaviour may evolve towards more sustainable forms of mobility. (NLR)

All Think Tank sessions run under the Chatham House rule. Everything discussed can be used afterwards, nothing is attributed to a specific person or an organisation. This approach encourages participants to think beyond the boundaries of their own organisation and enables open, constructive discussion.

The Flying Vision Accelerator is a consortium of TU Delft, Royal NLR, Airbus, KLM and Royal Schiphol Group, and is part of the National Gowth Fund programme Luchtvaart in Transitie. Participation is open to stakeholders beyond the consortium, and attendance to this event is free of charge. Insights and outcomes from the day will contribute directly to the next FVA roadmap update, which is expected to be published in December 2026.

Kind regards, on behalf of the FVA-team

Interested in actively contributing to shaping of the Think Tanks?  Over the coming weeks, FVA will organise several preparatory working sessions (amongst others on 1, 3 and 14 September). If you have ideas for topics and/or discussion points that should be addressed, the FVA team would also be happy to hear from you.
