Human Capital Agenda

In the transition towards sustainable aviation, new knowledge and skills will be required from personnel within the aviation sector. Our Human Capital Agenda aims to prepare the labour market for this transition, with sufficient and adequately trained staff focusing on technology, sustainability, and innovation. Currently, the sector is already facing a shortage of aircraft technicians, both in construction and maintenance. This problem will increase with the introduction of new aircraft and technologies, making it crucial to attract new personnel who can facilitate the aviation transition. We aim to achieve this by enriching education with sustainable technologies, improving the image of aviation among students, and retaining and upskilling current employees within companies.

Within the project, an annual labour market survey is conducted in collaboration with the sector and educational institutions to analyse the current ecosystem of aviation technology and provide insights into the national demand for personnel. This research offers insights into the necessary knowledge and skills that may be lacking and need to be integrated into education, as well as the required number of workers to facilitate the aviation transition.

In addition to the labour research, the focus is on recruiting future employees. This includes recruitment campaigns, experience programmes for aviation technology, and the establishment of various internships and traineeships to enhance the appeal of working in sustainable aviation. Parallel to this, recommendations from the labour market research are used to enrich training programmes with sustainable technologies to better meet the demands of current and future.
