Promising Research
The project ‘Promising Research’ focuses on technological developments that will become relevant after 2030. This project anticipates the long development time of (new technology for) new aircraft. The goal of this project within the Sustainable Knowledge project line is to continue supporting the Dutch manufacturing industry after 2030 by filling current knowledge gaps and further expanding the knowledge base. This will ensure that the Netherlands will take their role as frontrunner in the European Aerospace, and that we can maintain a leading role in Sustainable Aviation.
The subproject is carried out by Koninklijke NLR and TU Delft. The knowledge development within this subproject focuses on new driving systems and propulsion concepts, electro-thermal management, new design concepts and materials, ultra-efficient structural components, and cost-effective manufacturing technologies for new aircraft configurations. This is divided into 13 studies that fall under the main themes ‘Smart Structures’ and ‘Enabling Hydrogen-Powered Flight.’
In these studies, specialists focus on new innovations and technologies that are in line with the other LiT subprojects. The knowledge gained can be effectively transferred to the industry. As part of this subproject, they will also present results at international conferences.
